North Tyler Developmental Academy programs are offered to children ages 6 weeks to 5 years of age. The larger classrooms, in the old Griffin School, gives our teachers more teaching space and this cuts down on discipline problems. The school setting helps the children make a smoother transition into the public school. By providing a low-cost daycare on a sliding fee schedule, we afford our parents the opportunity to improve their quality of life.
The purpose of the services offered by North Tyler Developmental Academy are to equip the children with cognitive and social skills they can use in life and that will allow them to further their education. The Cognitive and Social Skills Program and assessments were developed as a measurement tool for teachers and administrators to gauge the progress of our children. Through the use of these tools the teachers are able to develop lesson plans and activities that are personally related to the children and the entire classroom. The formal assessment is designed to take place three times a year and to document the progress of each child in the areas of: Language, Literacy, Mathematics, Social & Emotional, Creative Arts, approaches to learning, science and Physical Health and Safety.
The after school program is available for children 5 years of age to 12 years of age. The children are picked up a certain local schools.
